Incident Management Team Course

The Incident Management Team (IMT) Course is a two-day course that is designed for the capability of Senior WA Health Staff and other agency personal who may be required to work within an Emergency Operations Centre (EOC), Incident Management Team (IMT) or perform a liaison role.

Aim:  

  • Develop and introduce a relevant Incident Management Training course for use within the Western Australian Metropolitan environment. 
  • Incorporate a holistic approach to Incident Management, whereby all prevention, preparation, response, and recovery elements are included. 
  • Include and train all Hospital Service Providers (HSPs) to utilise agreed naming conventions, thereby allowing improved communication between facilities/HSPs.  
  • Investigate pre-learning material to maximise face to face course efficacy. 
  • Maximise course delivery and minimise course duration, thereby making course more available to relevant staff. 
  • Develop universal incident exercise that will consolidate all course learning. 
  • Incorporate efficient evaluation process to ensure effective course improvement. 

 

Learning Outcomes: 

  • Ensure understanding regulations and policy related to Disaster and major incident requirements of Hospital Service Providers HSPs and health facilities. 
  • Clarify the response change between a Health facility incident and an incident that will affect multiple HSP’s. 
  • Develop an appreciation of the prevention, planning, response & recovery stages of disaster management within the hospital setting,  
  • Become aware of the tools and guides that can assist in the development of hospital incident response plans. 
  • Ensure understanding of the Incident Command Structure and how it is used within the Emergency Operations Centre and health facility. 
  • Improve the knowledge base of other emergency services and their involvement in major incidents that affect health facilities. 
  • Consolidate awareness around business continuity. 
  • Confirm the comprehension of the recovery processes within Health facilities following a major incident.
